GETTING YOUR FIRST JOB DONE

This is a detailed guide and tutorial to help you finish your first job in Outer Empires. It helps the over-all experience if you know what you are doing!

After creating you account you will be spawned at the location you chose. Let's get familiar with the controls before we start our first mission.

Recommended to read before continuing:

The Outer Empires Wiki

------------------------------

1. Press the red button with the down arrow to un-dock from the station you are at. Remember: at stations you can refuel, modify your ship, buy things from the market, accept jobs, and a load of other important things.

2. You are now free to move around the galaxy. Tap anywhere in space to bring up the Action Menu. This menu will provide a number of different options depending on what in space you tapped on. For now, just press the largest circle with the arrows. You should now move to the place you tapped - pretty simple, eh? All of the different icons can be seen at the http://wiki.outer-empires.com/index.php?title=Action_Menu

Practice this a bit and get used to the feeling. Don't do any jumping yet!

3. While you are outside of a station, lets go through the toolbar. The toolbar has many different options, all of which you will use very frequently. It is located to the top-right of your screen (Or to the right for iPhone users). In order of their appearance on the browser version: Faction Tab (Two People), Current Jobs (Person in suit), My Colonies (House), Stored Items (Box), Ship w/ Parts (Ship), Current Items on Market (Item Weigher), Messages (Envelope), Account Settings (Gears), Leaderboards (Player stages), and Logout (Red Person Running).

4. Now that you have a fairly good knowledge of the interface, let's do our first job! Go to the station you were just at. While hovering over it, tap it to bring up the Action Menu. Tap the green icon with the arrow going up. You will now dock at the station.

5. Look at the station menu (Top right box with options). Click on the Jobs/Missions button. This will load a list of available jobs at the station you are at as well as a list of jobs that you have accepted. Once it has loaded, browse through the list of available jobs. It will tell you the Type of Job, the Experience Reward, the Pay Reward, and the Job Description. Choose a job you want to complete.

6. After accepting a job you need to move the cargo to your ship. This is easy to do. Exit out of the Job/Missions menu. There should now be some cannisters in the station hangar (Bottom-left box). Drag and drop those cannisters to your ship cargo hold (Bottom left box).

7. Undock from the station. Do this by pressing the red button with the arrow going up.

8. You now need to jump to your job's described destination. Remember, you can only jump when you are outside of the systems boundaries. You will know this by the red ring around each system. Fortunate for you, your ship has a type of auto pilot that will automatically fly you to the system boundary itself (Or any planet/moon and sun in the system). You can bring this menu up by pressing the satellite dish icon to the right of your game window. Scroll down to the bottom and select System Boundary. Then hit the Move button below that. Your ship will fly to the system boundary.

9. Once you have stopped moving it is OK to perform your first jump. But first lets make sure you know where to go. Press the Jobs button on your toolbar (Person in suit). Read the job description. It is fairly simple and should state something like "5 cannisters of zinc from __a__ to __b__." You need to remember 'B'. Press the Jobs icon again to exit.

10. Open the action by pressing anywhere in space. You should notice a new icon: an orange swirl. This is the jump icon and is used when you want to jump to another system. Go ahead and press it.

11. You should now be at whole new screen. This shows the systems that are nearby you depending on your scan range. You can either scroll the list of system to the right or select the system manually. Remember: 1 Lightyear (Lyr) = 1 fuel. The ship you are in now has a fuel capacity of of 200. Once you have found the system you need to drop your cargo off at, select it and hit jump. You will now jump to that system. This takes a minimum of 5 seconds depending on your ship build.

12. You should now arrive at the system you selected. You need to go to the system station to finish off your job. Do this buy clicking the satellite icon again (If the Object Explorer isn't already up) and selecting Station. Your ship will now move to the station.

13. Once at the station, hover over it and dock. This should be old news to you by now.

14. The last thing you need to do is drop your cargo off at the station. Drag and drop the cannisters from your Ship Cargo into the Station Hanger. You should receive a message in your chat box stating your reward!

------------------------------

Congratulations! You have completed your first job in Outer Empires! You should have gained at least one rank. I am now leaving you in the hands of the current players online. Unfortunately, I can not guide you through every aspect of the game - there is simply to much! Enjoy the game and I hope you like it enough to stay active!
